Rental Cars and Carpooling

Flights

To/from Denver

Flights to Denver are likely the cheapest flight option. From there, you will need to rent a car or carpool. The drive to Salida is a little over 3 hours.

To/from Gunnison

Flying into Gunnison usually involves connecting in Denver. It's a more expensive option (Gunnison is a small airport) but the drive is only an hour and fifteen minutes to Salida. Rental cars may be harder to come by because it's a smaller airport.

Altitude

Salida is at 7000 feet, 2000 feet higher than Denver. It can take a bit to adjust to both the altitude and the dryness. Plan to drink a lot of water both leading up to and during the weekend! Ibuprofen can help with altitude headaches, as well as rest.

Cost expectations

For transparency, Rowen and Rachel are covering the following costs:

• Lodging $60 per guest per night up to 3 nights
• Pool party costs, including drinks up to a limit
• Rafting costs
• Drinks at bar night on Friday up to a limit
• Reception food and drinks

That leaves the following costs for our guests:

• Airplane tickets and gas costs to/from Colorado
• Rental car costs to/from Salida
• Remaining lodging costs not covered by stipend
• Food costs outside of the reception
